A recent study highlights that people with multiple sclerosis (MS) face a slightly increased risk of certain cancers—especially bladder, brain, and cervical—compared to those without MS. While the risk for common cancers like breast, colorectal, and lung cancer is not significantly different, MS patients under 55 showed a higher overall cancer risk. The research also found that people with MS are less likely to receive regular cancer screenings, especially for breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer. Experts stress the importance of proactive screening and adopting healthy habits—like avoiding tobacco, staying active, eating well, and maintaining a healthy weight—to help reduce cancer risk.
