Dark rim on MS lesions seen with standard MRI may mark activity

A study has shown that an imaging feature called the T1-dark rim, visible on standard MRI scans, could help identify paramagnetic rim lesions (PMLs) in multiple sclerosis (MS). PMLs are linked to chronic active inflammation and disability progression in MS. This discovery suggests the T1-dark rim could be a useful marker for detecting these lesions, potentially improving early detection and treatment for patients at higher risk of disease progression.
