FDA Clears Quantum BioPharma’s Lucid-MS to Proceed to Phase 2 Clinical

Quantum BioPharma has received FDA clearance to advance Lucid-MS, an experimental multiple sclerosis drug, into Phase 2 clinical trials. Unlike most current MS treatments, which work by calming or suppressing the immune system, Lucid-MS is designed to protect the myelin sheath — the coating around nerve fibers that MS damages. The candidate has completed Phase 1 safety testing in healthy volunteers with no serious side effects reported, and the Phase 2 trials will focus on people with progressive MS across sites in the U.S., Canada, and Europe over roughly a year. The drug is still investigational and not yet approved, but its focus on protecting myelin is a promising direction to watch.
